The Junction delivers it all ... great food, drink, art and experience!

Visiting The Junction in the River Arts District has been long overdue for me so I’m thrilled to say that I finally made it happen.  I’ve tried a couple times forgetting that they are closed on Monday but with a career change I have more flexibility to dine around.

 

My wife and I had dinner with friends or ours, Ken and Robin Pace.  Robin has her artwork hanging in the Junction right now.  Her chalk pastels are completely unique and beautiful.  I bought one of her originals at a charity auction a couple of years ago and proudly have it hanging in our house.  Yes it is available online, click here.  But take the time to stop by the junction and enjoy their beauty while having a bite to eat or a cocktail.

The Junction describes itself as ...

a slow-food inspired, neighborhood eatery featuring seasonal "from scratch" fare and freshly squeezed cocktails. Our dinner hours are 5-11 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday and we serve brunch Saturday & Sunday from 10:30-2:30. We offer an eclectic Southern influenced menu to complement our rockin' seasonal cocktails. We also have superb wines by the glass & bottle, as well as local microbrews and PBR on draft.

Our experience at The Junction was great.  When we walked in someone came over after a minute or so and asked if we had a reservation.  Even though we didn’t they were very accommodating and had us at a table in no time.  We arrived early so ordered a couple of beers and the Pickled Fried Green Tomato appetizer.  It was an amazing presentation and even better flavors.  We meant to save some of it for the Ken and Robin but we couldn’t stop ourselves from plowing through the entire app.

Once our guests arrived we ordered a variety of food and did a bit of sharing around the table.  Every bit of what we ate was perfect.  Presentations are well thought out for depth, color and texture with the flavors on each plate melding together beautifully.

Artisanal Cheeses, Homemade Jam, Seasonal Fruit, Crostini

I switched from beer to wine but The Junction has an impressive reputation for creating unique and flavorful cocktails.  Fresh ingredients and creativity reign at the bar as well so I’ve made up my mind to go back and sample some of their libatious treats.  Let me go back a step and mention that there is a nice selection of beers covering a good assortment of locals. The wine list also has an interesting collection of wines that are well thought out to pair with the menu while offering variety.
